Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data Flare handles, and what we deliberately never touch. Flare is made by SoinsAI LLC ("we", "us"). It applies to the Flare iOS app and this website.
Data that stays on your device
The following is stored locally on your iPhone and is never uploaded to our servers:
- Your symptom logs: pain levels, stiffness, fatigue, affected joints, and notes
- Your profile: name, affected joints, known triggers, and medications
- Health data you allow from Apple Health: sleep, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, and activity
Deleting the app deletes this data. We cannot recover it, because we never had it.
Data our servers process to deliver alerts
To send weather alerts while the app is closed, we store on our server:
- Your device's push notification token
- Your approximate location coordinates (to fetch your local weather from Open-Meteo, a weather data provider)
- Your alert preferences: which weather triggers you enabled, thresholds, lead time, units, timezone, and preferred alert hour
- Whether your device is eligible for alerts (a subscription or trial flag, with no payment details)
This data contains no health information. If your push token becomes invalid (for example after you uninstall), the record is deleted.
AI analysis
Two optional features send data off your device only when you actively use them:
- Trigger analysis: when you run it, your symptom logs, matched weather data, and profile details (joints, triggers, medications) are sent through our server to Google's Gemini API to generate your analysis. We do not store this data on our server; it passes through to produce the result and comes back to your device.
- Smart import: if you upload a photo or file of past symptom records, it is processed the same way to extract entries.
Google processes this data under its API terms. If you never use these features, no symptom data ever leaves your phone.
Apple Health
With your permission, Flare reads sleep, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, and activity from Apple Health to find correlations with your symptoms. This data is read on your device, stays on your device, and is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared with third parties, consistent with Apple's HealthKit guidelines. Flare does not write anything to Apple Health.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to validate subscription status. We never see your payment details. Apple's handling of your purchase data is covered by Apple's own privacy policy.
Analytics
We use PostHog to understand how the app and this website are used: screens viewed, features used, and where people drop off. Analytics events use a random identifier, and never include your name, symptoms, health values, notes, or precise location. Pain levels, where relevant, are reduced to coarse buckets (low, mid, high) before being recorded.
If you choose to give us your email (for tips, updates, or report delivery), we store the address with the date and where you signed up, separate from all app data. Every email includes an unsubscribe option. Email us to be removed at any time.
Contact and feedback
If you send feedback or contact us, we keep the message, the category you chose, and any contact details you include, so we can respond and improve Flare.
What we never do
- We never sell your data
- We never use your health data for advertising
- We never require an account, sign-up, or password
- We never store your health data on our servers
Data retention and deletion
Local data lives and dies with the app on your device. Server-side alert records are deleted when your push token becomes invalid, or on request. To have your email or feedback entries deleted, contact us at the address below.
Children
Flare is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Not medical advice
Flare provides informational forecasts and pattern observations. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult your doctor about your condition.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Meaningful changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
